For some reason I both dragged my feet and screamed all the way to the social networking bandwagon. I simply couldn’t figure out how I would squeeze one more minute out of my day or remember one more user name and password. Then over the last year Plaxo and LinkedIn added more social networking tools. And I decided to get on the bandwagon in the last month and created profiles on both Twitter and a personal one Facebook.
The one thing that has stopped me from really participating is time. It takes time to go to each site. So I’ve been paying attention to how others are posting to their social networks, especially Twitter. Wordpress provides a couple of plug ins which allows you to post directly to your twitter account as well as add an icon at the end of the post so others can “tweet” the post, but it didn’t help with my other social networks.
Then while surfing on my peer Mikelann Valterra’s My Self Employed Life Blog I found her Twitter Site which I like and you may too, but something else I saw intrigued me even more, the url of Ping.fm - in my own words I describe it as a tool that creates your entry portal to your social networks.
Ping.fm allows you to post once and direct it towards all of your social networks such as twitter, facebook, plaxo, linkedin, etc. This I find very appealing, much better then posting to twitter from this blog and copying my mini post and adding to other sites. For some reason the writer in me wanted to adjust it here and there so I wouldn’t be completely replicating it. But the bottom line is, that doesn’t matter, I haven’t had any one say, hey you wrote the same thing on Twitter (this is my link) but worded it differently on Plaxo.
So if you’re ready to expand your reach as well as save some time check out Ping.fm.
